Workflow Improvements

Many companies today follow a process like the following when building web-based applications:

  1. Based on customer requirements, a basic wireframe screen flow is developed.
  2. Web designers turn this into HTML.
  3. Screens are shown to customers, and the above process is re-iterated as necessary.
  4. Someone turns the HTML pages into functioning JSP code. If the HTML was built using an automatic tool such as Dreamweaver or Frontpage, this person's life is a living hell.
  5. Functioning JSPs are linked in with the back-end code

By providing a common widget set that can be used from the initial screenshots through production JSP code, BLADE makes this process a lot less painful. Screens can be quickly mocked up for customer review, tweaked for production by a web designer, and then copied almost directly into JSPs. When changes need to be made, the JSPs are clean and readable, without any messy auto-generated HTML. Additionally, graphic artists can be working on new themes for the app in parallel with the web designers. When the themes are ready, drop them in and the page automatically takes on a new look and feel.
